1. Our commitment
ATAR Tutoring Club is committed to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every student we teach. We have zero tolerance for child abuse and aim to align our practice with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
2. Working with Children Checks
All tutors and staff who work directly with students under 18 hold a current Western Australian Working with Children Check (or the equivalent in their jurisdiction). Checks are verified before any work begins and renewed before expiry.
Founder's current WWCC number: 2940146.
3. Code of conduct
- Treat every student with respect, regardless of ability, background or identity.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times — no private social-media contact, no gifts, no meetings outside agreed sessions.
- Keep communication on approved channels (Ask The Prof platform, school-monitored email, or with a parent copied in).
- Never be alone with a student in a non-observable physical setting.
- Report any concern about a student's safety immediately.
4. Online safety
Online sessions are conducted with appropriate visibility and may be recorded for quality and safety. Students are encouraged to take part from a shared family space. Parents are welcome to sit in on any session.
5. Reporting a concern
If a student, parent or staff member has a concern about a child's safety or the conduct of any tutor, please contact us immediately:
- Email: theprof@asktheprof.com.au
- In an emergency, call 000.
- To report suspected child abuse in WA, call the Department of Communities Child Protection on 1800 273 889 or Crisis Care on 1800 199 008.
Concerns can be raised confidentially. We will not retaliate against anyone who reports in good faith.
6. Mandatory reporting
Where required by law, we will report suspected child abuse to the appropriate authority. We cooperate fully with police, child-protection agencies and schools.
7. Parents and guardians
Parents and guardians are partners in their child's learning and safety. You may at any time review your child's account, request information we hold about them, sit in on sessions, or pause the subscription.
8. Continuous improvement
We review this policy at least annually and after any significant incident or change in law. Suggestions are welcome at theprof@asktheprof.com.au.
